Packed with vintage runway shots and advertisements from Comme des Garçons and Jean Paul Gaultier, grainy fabric swatches of faded purples and blues, eclectic leather shoes, frayed sewn-in clothing labels, and rare designer findings from Yahoo Auctions, the Instagram account @archivings.stacks takes the idea of a “mood board” to the next level. Curated by Shahan Assadourian, he began the project in 2013, first focusing on archiving his own collection of pieces. This evolved into scanning collections from old fashion magazines from the mid 1990’s to the early 2000’s, which are seen on his brilliant account.
And, as per recent Instagram story postings on @archivings.stacks, you are now able to purchase an edit of Assadourian’s rare and fascinating findings straight from his page. Items for sale include a blended and bleached denim jacket from Masaki Matushima, Spring 1997, a black suit with choppy, thick, stone blue stripes zig-zagging across the fabric, also by Matushima, and a rusty gray denim, rhinestone-bedazzled Undercover Spring 2002 matching set.
These pieces are just a small taste of the tremendously sought-out items and labels featured on Assadourian’s platform. While most of the particular items he posts are not directly for sale on the account, viewers can still lust over 2003 Dolce & Gabanna miniskirts, Mihara Yasuhiro pony hair hoof/sneaker combo trainers, pastel-colored Emanuel Ungaro dresses from 1988, and a flashy, metallic gold duffle bag made by Helmut Lang for their Spring 2004 collection. Whether you’re looking for fashion inspiration or art research, @archivings.stacks is superb for doing all of the above.
