Curated by Taipei-based Haan-Yuu Feeng, @software2050’s Instagram feed offers a view of our world through an imagined artificial intelligence entity, observing humankind first hand, hacking surveillance cameras around the world and infiltrating Google’s databases. According to Feeng, the more this robot sees, the more emotional and empathetic it becomes.

With this narrative lense in mind, Feeng’s collection of visuals oscillate between images of technology, pollution, fashion, art and the bizarre existences of humans around the globe. An inimitable trove of reference images, though traversing an enormous territory of subject matter, @software2050 somehow manages to create a cohesive aesthetic story.

Subversive, hilarious and at times disturbing, captures include stills from Google Map’s Street View, extraordinary animals, curiously customised cars, motorbikes and planes, and chaotic images of violence and destruction. Diverse sexual practices, fetish-wear, guns and knives, sit alongside adorable puppies, babies spilling cereal, and details from Salvador Dalí paintings, conveying the sheer variety of life observed by Feeng’s robot.
