The Instagram Account That Has Become A Key Voice In The Anti-Racism Movement
By Something CuratedInstagram account @patiasfantasyworld, known for creating and sharing viral memes referencing Black culture, earlier this month launched a comprehensive database of anti-racism resources. Initially taking the form of an expansive Google Doc and now a dedicated website, created by Patia Borja with support from her fellow account admins Laina and River, the vast database includes a list of bail funds, resources for teachers, direct links to support Black LGBTQ individuals, mental health resources, as well as a useful guide directed towards White readers who want to know how to initiate productive conversations about racism.
Borja notes: “I started Patia’s Fantasy World as a private page to share humor, focused on black culture, with my close friends. Eventually, I made the page public and amassed a following. With help from a close network of friends and colleagues, as well as several sleepless nights, I created a master list guide to help dismantle racism. Through my platform, the guide has been circulated around the internet, reaching a number of people I never imagined. Due to the overwhelming response, we have turned the master list into a website that we hope will continue to foster awareness and support for the Black Lives Matter movement.”
