London native Tommy Gold’s performances are overflowing with diverse selections that demonstrate an extraordinary depth of musical knowledge traversing the globe. In his teens, he cut his teeth at NTS Radio and has since grown into co- hosting the Bone Soda show, bringing on guests like Channel Tres, Slowthai and Ama Lou. Alongside Gold’s NTS residency, he’s electrified the Deviation x Killerwat stage at Notting Hill Carnival, and on the dance floor, he elates crowds with his seamless open format mixes of anything from Hip-Hop, Afrobeat, House, or Experimental music. He has also commanded sets for the likes of Nike, Carhartt, Dover Street Market and Acne Studios to name a few. Gold is currently executive producing a compilation tape which will celebrate music from artists he admires from across the world. With more severe restrictions being put in place during the festive season, the talented DJ shares with Something Curated his ultimate lockdown listening list. The below are his words.

Poshgod — Finger Tip Slime feat. Kang Kruley

This is one of Archy Marshall’s (King Krule’s) lesser-known aliases. It’s a raw, spontaneous freestyle over Metro Zu’s Freebase’s beat.

The Cure — Shivers (Just Like Heaven Demo)

One of my favourite things about The Cure is the access to loads of their demos online. I’ve grown to love this original demo version of Just Like Heaven more than the finished track. When showing the band the song, singer, songwriter Robert Smith supposedly told his bandmates he’d never write a song as good.

De Mogul SA — Oe Batla Kae feat. Ms Mo & Makhensa

South African anthem, pure Amapiano.

CGM; ZK x Dodgy x T.Y — Mad About Bars w/ Kenny Allstar

Ladbroke Grove based drill group CGM’s most well known artist is Digga D but this freestyle is without Digga and has been on repeat since October.  It’s also been a long time since we heard ZK on a drill track.

Alex G — Gretal

Pennsylvania born Alex G is currently one of my favourite artists. His instrumentation is experimental but accessible, shown perfectly in this track, along with an incredible hook.

kezia — Megan Fox (Live) Doozyfest 2020

kezia is an alt R&B artist I love from the Bay Area who has Tanzanian roots.
