September brings a barrage of new and exciting restaurant openings to London, including Charles Pelletier and Frédéric Peneau’s dining experience at The Mandrake, a new site from the founders of Rawduck, the latest offering from the Sethi’s, as well as a London Fashion Week lunch menu from Skye Gyngell. Something Curated compiles a list of the most enticing menus to try this month, taking a closer look at the founders and proprietors behind the diverse concepts.

Littleduck Picklery || Tom Hill, Clare Lattin & Rory McCoy (TBC Sep)

In the same neighbourhood as Rawduck, comes a new Dalston restaurant and wine bar. From founders Tom Hill, Clare Lattin and Rory McCoy, who also own Ducksoup in Soho, the all-day eatery features a shop selling the team’s own range of fermented food and drink, including the likes of kimchis, kombuchas and drinking vinegars.

London Fashion Week Lunch 2017 || Skye Gyngell (15-19 Sep)

(via Spring)

Skye Gyngell, of critically acclaimed restaurant Spring, has created a set lunch menu available exclusively during London Fashion Week, from 15th to 19th September. Designed to be served and eaten as a pit stop between shows, the London Fashion Week Lunch, offered in Spring’s bright and beautifully designed dining room, will comprise a daily changing salad, a freshly squeeze juice or housemade cordial and for those with a sweet tooth, a scoop of ice cream.

Powderkeg || Ben Mulock (29 Sep)

Battersea restaurant Powder Keg Diplomacy is set to relaunch as Powderkeg this September, with Ben Mulock, formerly of Salt Yard Group’s Opera Tavern, as executive chef. Designed by consultancy Kai Design, the 90-cover site in Battersea will have a conservatory area and a 15-cover outdoor terrace. There will be a daily list of grill specials such as Lake District Farmers dairy cow sirloin; Galician bavette; and whole sea trout.

Serge et Le Phoque at The Mandrake || Charles Pelletier & Frédéric Peneau (15 Sep)

The Mandrake, an independent boutique hotel, is set to open in London Fitzrovia next month, including a restaurant from the team behind Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Serge et le Phoque. The team behind Serge et le Phoque, French duo Charles Pelletier and Fred Peneau, will be opening their first London venture in the hotel, offering refined dining using modern French techniques.

Harneet and Devina Baweja will launch Gul and Sepoy close to their other two restaurants this autumn. The couple’s Indian restaurant Gunpowder won a Bib Gourmand in the 2017 Michelin Guide while their second site Madam D’s, which opened in May, focuses on Himalayan cooking. Gul and Sepoy will pair the flavours of northern India with dishes from the country’s more relaxed south western coastline.

Yamabahçe || Alan Yau (TBC Sep)

Alan Yau, who founded Park Chinois, Hakkasan and Busaba Eathai, confirmed on Instagram that he will be launching a new venue in Marylebone at 26 St James Street this September. Called Yamabahçe, the eatery will offer a selection of pide, a type of Turkish pizza with a range of interesting toppings.

MAM, Notting Hill || Colin Tu (6 Sep)

MAM’s menu will be inspired by the barbecue street food stalls found across Vietnam and will focus on skewered meat cooked on a robata-style grill, served with Tu’s homemade fermented dipping sauce made with shrimp paste, chilli and pineapple. The restaurant will be divided between a bar area serving cocktails up front and a dining room at the back, while its style is designed to be reminiscent of the Vietnamese riverside town of Hoi An.

Cub || Ryan Chetiyawardana & Doug McMaster (7 Sep)

Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan) and his team have partnered with friend and collaborator Doug McMaster, of Brighton’s zero-waste restaurant Silo, to launch Cub. Going beyond just food pairing, the venue will blur the boundaries of food and drink by approaching them as a united entity.

Southam Street || Chris Denney & Luca Longobardi (TBC Sep)

108 Garage founders, Chris Denney and Luca Longobardi, are set to launch their second London offering Southam Street this September. The restaurant will be set over three floors, with a focus on grilling downstairs; both a robata grill and a Big Green Egg, regarded as superior apparatus for cooking with fire, will be used to cook meat, fish and vegetables and incorporate a number of international grilling techniques.

Red Farm || Ed Schoenfeld (TBC Sep)

Ed Schoenfeld’s modern Chinese restaurant Red Farm will soon be launching a London site following its success in New York. Dumplings take centre stage on the menu, with fillings including pork and crab, steamed lobster, shrimp and snow pea leaf, and pan-fried lamb.

Brigadiers || Karam, Sunaina & Jyotin Sethi (TBC Sep)

The new Bloomberg Arcade, a covered pedestrian walkway, will house ten restaurants, but this new offering from the JKS group, who are behind London favourites including Gymkhana and Bao, is arguably the most exciting of them. Little is known about Brigadiers so far, but the restaurant will serve up classic Indian barbecue cuisine in a setting inspired by an Indian Army mess tent.

Farm Girl, Soho || Rose Mann & Anthony Hood (TBC Sep)

Following the success of their Notting Hill outpost, Rose Mann and Anthony Hood are set to open a new branch of Farm Girl in Soho. Once again, the menu is “inspired by a childhood growing up on a rural farm outside Melbourne,” featuring wholesome breakfast plates, salads and organic juices.
