Covering a breadth of fields, including music, art, fashion, furniture design and food, Something Curated highlights six inspiring London personalities you should follow this month.

Michael Armitage || @manairobi

Working in London and Nairobi, Armitage produces paintings that connect with art history, often adapting the strategies and compositions of historical paintings to unpack the cultural and social politics of contemporary East Africa. Although the scenes depicted in his paintings are sometimes bucolic and vivid, this conscious aesthetic belies his committed exploration of pertinent narratives, in particular, the intersection of societal and sexual behaviour against a backdrop of cultural conservatism.

Eliza Conlon || @eliza_conlon

London-based stylist Eliza Conlon has worked on projects for The Gentlewoman, Louis Vuitton, Joseph, Purple Magazine and Vivienne Westwood, among others. Most recently, for the new issue of 1 Granary, Conlon, along with James Robjant, captured Royal College of Art’s MA Fashion class of 2017 in a 30-page portfolio, with the works of each designer being shown in various diverse narratives.

Klein || @kleinrus

Klein, who recently dropped her EP ‘Tommy’, will be at Corsica Studios on 13 December, alongside Dj Neptizzle, Crystallmess and Clubcouture. The British-Nigerian musician’s distinctive fusion of hip-hop, classical, RnB and electronic influence feeds wide-ranging sounds that can be challenging to piece together at first listen. Joined with her striking visuals, her work is both rhythmically and conceptually captivating.

Will Gleave || @williamgleave

William Gleave of the celebrated Tasmanian restaurant Garagistes is currently resident at east London’s P. Franco. The carousel of rotating chefs at this Hackney wine bar and shop are currently responsible for some of the capital’s most arresting gourmet artistry, and Gleave has played a continued role in the venue’s success in becoming a lauded London food destination.

Max Lamb || @johnson_trading

The works of British designer Max Lamb, who is represented by Johnson Trading, appear to be made by simple and direct actions. He has made chairs from rocks, hewn in rectilinear chunks, and he treats expanded polystyrene in the same direct way, snapping, wire-cutting, carving vigorously with a hammer, and stopping at the point where a chair is defined. His varied surface treatments, whether polymer-coating, fine lacquer or polish, simultaneously act as a barrier around the foundation material and as a framing device.

Chris Brooks || @mrchrisbrooks

Chris Brooks studied photography for seven years between the Midlands and the north of England specialising in photography as art. Combining technical skill with an acute knowledge of the language of photography his ethos is to find ways to present images that whilst authentic take the subject matter to another level. Having worked closely with brands such as Adidas, Burberry and Jo Malone, his vision is to always create a story around his subject matter.
