Attracting culinary talents from around the world, London’s restaurant scene offers rich and diverse testing grounds for new ideas. This season, a number of emergent chefs take up residence in the capital’s eateries, serving their unique menus for a limited period. Something Curated takes a closer look at five new temporary offerings worth trying.

Anna Tobias at P. Franco | Until Spring 2019

Anna Tobias, who counts Jeremy Lee, Margot Henderson, and Ruth Rogers as former employers, takes over the now-famous Clapton wine bar’s induction hobs, as she becomes the venue’s sixth resident head chef. Known for her rustic British cooking, Anna chooses high quality ingredients and prefer to do little to them. Like her predecessors, she will cook dinner from 6-10pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as from 2pm through to 9pm on Sunday.

Oxalis London is the first venture from duo Nick Ross and Max de Nahlik. Having spent the last several years working together at various establishments, the friends realised that their shared passion for seasonal British food and fine dining could be channelled into creating a restaurant of their own. Following a successful five-month residency at The Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho, Oxalis has moved on to Brixton’s The Shrub & Shutter. This time around the menu will feature the likes of a squid ink cracker with brown crab and lardo, and broad bean tortellini with cured egg, rabbit and beef tartar.

Emilia Strazzanti at Carousel | 23-27 Oct 2018

Emilia Strazzanti and her sisters inherited their passion for the flavours of Italy from their Sicilian and Neapolitan grandparents. Inspired by these family ties, and countless hours spent alongside their nonne in the kitchen, Emilia is committed to showcasing the very best ingredients that Sicily has to offer. Emilia learnt her trade as a pastry chef at The Dorchester, under the tutelage of Anton Mosimann, before moving to Le Maurice in Paris, later Milan’s Il Principe di Savoia and finally Accursio in Modica, where Michelin-starred chef, Accursio Craparo, introduced her to some of Sicily’s most talented producers.
