Bistrotheque’s Pablo Flack and David Waddington Open A West London Cafe
By Something CuratedBistroteque and Hoi Polloi founders, Pablo Flack and David Waddington, have made their first leap over to West London with April’s Cafe at Boutique 1, off Sloane Square.

Having both studied in London, the pair met at The Bricklayers Arms in Shoreditch in 1994, while Flack managed the pub. After building a friendship, the two decided to go into business together. Changing the restaurant landscape in East London forever, Bistrotheque was a new type of eatery in Bethnal Green, stylish in its décor and relatively lavish in terms of the menu. Opened in 2004, the restaurant has secured its standing as an East End institution, well known for hosting art and fashion crowds. With two pop-up restaurants, The Reindeer and FLASH, a temporary eatery, Shrimpy’s, and Hoi Polloi at Ace Hotel, Waddington and Flack have garnered an impressive reputation.

Offering a similar selection of all-day dining classics as their Bethnal Green debut, along with cocktails, cold-pressed juices and Allpress coffee, April’s Cafe at Boutique 1 provides shoppers respite and refreshments inside the clothing store. Boutique 1 began life in the Middle East, with outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Beirut. Making their mark in London, the store carries an extensive selection of international designers under one roof. The new dining space, designed by Halstead Leong, includes open plan booth seating, fashionably exposed air ducts, plenty of greenery, and an outdoor terrace seating twelve.

The menu, conceived by Blaine Duffy, Head Chef at Bistrotheque, starts with a breakfast that includes polenta bread with maple butter, granola, strained yoghurt and London honey as well as soft boiled eggs, labneh and dukkah. As for the lunch, you can expect to find a caramelised tomato tart and burrata; pink beef, heritage tomatoes and wild garlic crayfish, amongst other things. Freshly baked cakes and pastries will also be available in the afternoon.
