7 Funded Opportunities for Artists with Application Deadlines in September

Whether you’re a recent graduate, an emerging practitioner, or an established one, the below programmes and open calls offer support, time, and space to develop work, connect with curators, and engage with international communities.
WIELS Residency for Canadian Artists — Brussels, Belgium
One of Europe’s leading contemporary art centres, WIELS invites Canadian artists (citizens or those living and working in Canada) to join its six-month residency from January to June 2026. The programme offers a chance to immerse yourself in Brussels’ international art scene while developing work in dialogue with curators and peers. Open to artists over 21 who are no longer students, with at least two years of professional practice and prior exhibition experience.
Funding: Travel, accommodation, €850 /month for living expenses, studio space, and curatorial support.

Sainsbury Scholarship in Fine Art — Rome, Italy
Offered by the British School at Rome in partnership with the Linbury Trust, this six-month residency (7 January–30 June 2026) aims to support early-career visual artists of Black, Asian, and minority backgrounds. Open to UK or Commonwealth nationals or residents, the award provides time and space for creative development within Rome’s international artistic community.
Funding: £1,500 monthly grant, £500 travel grant, £400 for visa/artwork transport, full board and studio accommodation, curatorial support, and participation in BSR public events.

Harvard Radcliffe Fellowship (Creative Arts) — Cambridge, USA
The Radcliffe Fellowship supports artists, scholars, and public intellectuals for a year-long residency (September 2026–May 2027) within Harvard’s interdisciplinary community. Fellows receive access to Harvard’s libraries and archives, professional development, and the chance to engage students through research partnerships.
Funding: $78,000 stipend plus $5,000 project expenses.

Delfina Foundation x Lithuanian Culture Institute Residency — London, UK
Delfina Foundation, in collaboration with the Lithuanian Culture Institute, offers a 12-week residency (6 January–27 March 2026) for contemporary Lithuanian artists. Whether living in Lithuania or abroad, applicants must demonstrate an active presence in the Lithuanian art scene for at least three years. The residency provides artists with the chance to expand their practice within London’s landscape while deepening curatorial connections.
Funding: Full residency support, studio, accommodation, and curatorial opportunities.

Ingram Prize 2025 — UK
Now in its 10th year, the Ingram Prize is open to visual artists who have graduated from a UK art school within the last five years. Three shortlisted works will be acquired for the Ingram Collection, one artist will be awarded a solo exhibition at the Lightbox Gallery & Museum, and all finalists will exhibit at Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop, London.

NEMO (Northern European Mobility Opportunity) — UK/EU
NEMO is a new programme designed to strengthen artistic exchange across Northern Europe, supported by the Nordic Culture Fund and UK/Irish arts councils. It focuses on early-career artists and arts practitioners, offering tailored support for mobility and international collaboration. This is an opportunity to forge new networks, experiment across borders, and take part in shaping a more connected regional arts ecology.

Gasworks Residency for West African Artists — London, UK
Gasworks invites applications for its fully funded 11-week residency (7 April–23 June 2026), open to artists based in West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo). The residency is self-directed, designed to support experimentation, cultural exchange, and professional development in London’s dynamic art scene.
