From a reimagined farmhouse in rural England to a collaborative design exchange in Rajasthan, these six opportunities – all with application deadlines this month – offer artists time, space, and support in new contexts.

Rizq Art Initiative (RAi Residency) — Abu Dhabi, UAE

The RAi Residency, based in Abu Dhabi, offers a rigorous three-month programme for emerging artists, curators, and thinkers aged 25–40. Intended for those working across the visual arts – with a focus on video, new media, photography, and interdisciplinary practices – it foregrounds dialogue and experimentation in a fast-developing cultural hub. Residents are provided with studio space, a private room, critical feedback sessions, and mentorship from leading regional figures.

The residency is structured to culminate in a group exhibition, and includes support for both public presentation and sales. The cohort-based format means residents benefit not only from one-on-one mentorship but also from peer-to-peer exchange and networking opportunities within the UAE’s vibrant contemporary art ecosystem.

Magnetic Residencies — Various locations in France and the UK

Magnetic connects ten contemporary art organisations across the UK and France. Spearheaded by Fluxus Art Projects, it offers a model of cross-border collaboration: artists based in one country undertake a residency in the other, with parallel residencies running simultaneously on both sides of the Channel.

Each host institution, from Gasworks in London to Frac Bretagne in Rennes, brings a unique curatorial perspective and infrastructure. Residencies typically run for two to three months between March and July 2026, with the goal of supporting the development of new work and fostering long-term institutional relationships. Artists benefit from dedicated mentoring, studio space, and a stipend that aims to make it possible to focus fully on their practice during the residency.

Funding: Fully funded — €2,500/month artist fee, plus travel, accommodation, and production costs covered.
Deadline: 14 July 2025.

Inspection Pit — West Sussex, UK

Tucked away in the English countryside, Inspection Pit offers a different kind of residency: slow, local, and reflective. The one-month programme invites a single artist to live and work onsite from 31 January to 28 February 2026, in a setup designed to encourage deep focus. The residency includes a private studio, accommodation, and access to a bicycle to navigate the rural surroundings.

The residency culminates in a solo exhibition approximately six months later, giving artists a chance to reflect and present work shaped by the experience. While not fully funded, the residency offers a £500 bursary to help offset costs.

Funding: Part-funded — £500 bursary provided; travel, food, and materials not covered.
Deadline: 31 July 2025.

The Open Palm Residency programme, hosted by the boutique hotel Palm Heights in the Caribbean, offers a creative oasis for artists, writers, musicians, designers, and thinkers. Situated on the pristine Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, the residency blends tropical seclusion with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. Residents are invited to engage with the surrounding environment and with each other, often developing work that reflects the space’s broader interests in wellness, identity, ecology, and diaspora. Artists are selected by invitation and open call, and are encouraged to propose projects.

Funding: In-kind support — accommodation, meals and some production resources provided; travel and personal expenses self-funded.

Artists and designers from around the world are embedded in the organisation’s Jaipur headquarters and across rural weaving communities in Rajasthan, where they can collaborate with weavers to co-create new textile designs.

Intended to promote exchange across cultures and skillsets, the residency aims to unite traditional techniques with contemporary and international perspectives. Past participants have included graphic designers, illustrators, and industrial designers, many of whom have gone on to see their work produced and sold as limited-edition collections.
